Library works with Broadview Animal Hospital to create dramatic play area for kids

Published on

The Children’s Room, at the Rochester Public Library, would like to thank Broadview Animal Hospital for generously donating supplies and funds to create a veterinarian and grooming dramatic play area.

According to children’s librarian Christina Paquette, the play area gives children the opportunity to role-play as community helpers and practice responsible pet care.

“Dramatic play provides many learning opportunities,” said Paquette. “It also provides time to share ideas and develop language skills.”

Staff members from Broadview Animal Hospital said they were excited to collaborate with the library to create a pet care corner.

“As a practice, we like to give back to the families of our community,” said a Broadview representative. “We are happy to hear that the children are enjoying the Veterinarian and Grooming Center dramatic play corner. The veterinary field can always use young bright minds.”

In addition to the play area, the Children’s Room will be collecting donations for the Pope Memorial Humane Society-Cocheco Valley from December 1 to December 17. Donations can be delivered to the library.

Some of the most needed items are dry cat and dog food, wet kitten food, paper towels, and large dog toys. A more extensive list can be found at Wish List | Pope Memorial Humane Society (popememorialcvhs.org).
